Gateway Admission

Applicants interested in taking just a few courses at Dallas International (6 – 9 semester hours, depending on your level of education so far) may choose to complete the Gateway application. This streamlined application process does not require submission of test scores or letters of recommendation–just a few simple steps.

Gateway students who complete their 6 -9 semester hours and wish to take more courses will need to complete the requirements for Undergraduate or Graduate admission before continuing their studies at Dallas International. See our Change Admission Status page for more information.

An official copy of an appropriate transcript which verifies that you are qualified to participate in the intended coursework.  The transcript should show the highest level of schooling you have completed so far. (See the bulleted list below.)

School records should come directly to Dallas International from the school itself or be in an unopened, signed and sealed envelope which you received directly from the school. Electronic transcripts sent by the school are acceptable as long as the school recognizes them as official. Those may be sent to admissions@diu.edu. If using regular mail instead, schools should direct transcripts to Dallas International Admissions, 7500 W Camp Wisdom Rd, Dallas, TX  75236.

Official academic records from outside the United States do not need be sent to a credential evaluation service, but an English translation of the transcript should be provided along with the transcript for transcripts not already in English.

To qualify for enrollment in up to nine semester hours of graduate and/or any combination of undergraduate or graduate hours up to nine semester hours, please submit a transcript showing one of the following:

  • a completed Master’s degree with at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA), or
  • a completed Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2.80 cumulative GPA

To qualify for enrollment in up to nine semester hours of undergraduate hours, please submit a transcript showing one of the following:

  • a completed Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA,
  • a transcript showing at least 54 undergraduate credit hours with at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA, or
  • graduation from high school with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.

Students who have not yet completed high school at the time they begin classes at Dallas International are limited to enrollment in two specific classes: IS1301-IN and IS1311-IN. To qualify please submit a high school transcript showing:

•  at least two years of high school completed with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.

Where appropriate for non-native speakers of English, evidence of satisfactory performance on the TOEFL exam (minimum score of 90), the IELTS (minimum score of 6.5), or the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Evaluation (level C1 preferred).  Contact isc@diu.edu at Dallas International for further information and direction in providing this proof.

If you will be needing a student visa while studying at Dallas International, please visit our International Student admission page for steps and instructions.  The international student application process includes the requirements for visa certification and therefore will take a few weeks extra to complete.  Submit your Gateway application early–2 to 3 months before your first class at Dallas International.   Contact our international student coordinator (isc@diu.edu) with any questions.
