Certificate in TESOL


The Certificate in TESOL equips students to teach English to speakers of other languages in the world as a certified TESOL instructor.

The TESOL Certificate is a 6-course, 20-week program. Most students interested in this program should apply for Undergraduate Admission status at Dallas International. If you have previously enrolled at Dallas International in Gateway status, you may need to change your admission status to qualify.

After completing this course a student will be able to:

  • demonstrate and apply to ESL instruction the interdependence between language and culture, a global awareness of cultural diversity, and the realtionship between cultural values and cultural beliefs to learning.
  • competently use assessment instruments to evaluate ELLs language skills.
  • demonstrate the ability to plan ESL instruction based on the on-going assessment of students and their needs.
  • competently use a wide range of instructional materials and pedagogies to produce language competencies of listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar for learners at different stages of English language development.

AA4370 Cultural Anthropology

IS3370 TESOL: Fundamentals and Methods of TESOL

IS3371 TESOL: Curriculum and Program Design

IS4372 TESOL: Reading and Writing

IS4373 TESOL: Speaking and Listening

AA4387 Training Across Cultures

Students enrolled in the BA in International Service may choose this as their minor.
