DIU strives to prepare our students spiritually for leadership through strong, mature community.

One way we do this is through our Prayer Partner program. This is a longstanding tradition that matches students with a DIU faculty/staff member or volunteer. Students meet with this prayer partner regularly to pray, weep, and rejoice together. Prayer partners often become one of a student’s most treasured relationships at DIU.

One student, Rachel, has met weekly with her prayer partner for five semesters and counting. “My prayer partner has been a lifeline for me in a transition-filled time of life,” Rachel attests. “God has shown his committed love for me through her faithfulness. There is such sweetness and power in approaching God with someone who has already walked all over the world with him,” she says. “I’ll keep tapping into that gift as long as the Lord allows.”

Prayer partner relationships often stretch beyond a student’s DIU career. Meg Trihus, Dean of Students, tells of one student she prayed with many years ago. That student graduated and left in pursuit of God’s calling. Then, more recently, she returned to take more classes at DIU—and began meeting with Dean Trihus again! It was a joy for both of them to reconnect with a treasured spiritual friend.

One anonymous student said “thank you” to her prayer partner in a creative way. In 2020, she established the Seeds of Grace Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship is meant to honor her prayer partner and others like her “who lovingly mentor and pray with students through the prayer partner ministry.” You can further their legacy by donating here.

Your support allows DIU to prepare students for their future through connecting with this mature, faithful community. Thank you!
