Dallas, TX (June 14, 2023) – Dallas International University announces a $100,000 capital grant for its groundbreaking 4TheWorld-Innovation Project. The grant is awarded by Hillcrest Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee, and provides 40% of the $250,000 needed to improve and update DIU’s technological infrastructure by 2025.
Technological Innovations
DIU’s 4TheWorld-Innovation Project is a part of the larger 4TheWorld initiative, which began with the launch of its funding campaign in November 2022. The campaign focuses on four key components: innovation, field-experienced faculty, academic excellence, and student support and placement.
The 4TheWorld-Innovation Project includes plans for improving the University’s ability to use modern technology to prepare global leaders for impacting their own local communities, all through distance education. The upgrades in technology not only support the academic pursuits of the students but also contribute to building a bridge between cultures and languages.
With the discontinuation of Windows 10 support in 2025, the university faces a pressing need to update all computers and systems to Windows 11. The grant provides 40% of the resources needed to replace critical computer hardware including 154 computer systems, tablets, video conferencing systems, and printers. Further facility and technology upgrades required include computer mobility, workstations, and video installations. These improvements will be essential for the academic success of approximately 300 students per year at DIU including those on campus and those studying remotely from countries around the world.
“We are truly grateful to the Hillcrest Foundation for partnering with us in this area of technological improvements,” said President Scott Berthiaume. “Dallas International University is committed to connecting all of its students, residential and distance through the most advanced technological platforms available. Investments in DIU’s mission through the 4TheWorld campaign are helping us reach a vision we thought impossible just a few years ago thanks to the trust and friendship of our partners.”

DIU initiated the 4TheWorld-Innovation Project this year and seeks the remaining $150,000 needed by November 2023. Equipment installation and staff training will be completed by July 2024, in time to launch our 2024-2025 academic year fully prepared for globally-focused and innovative distance education.
