As part of DIU’s commitment to equipping spiritually resilient and mature alumni, our fall Transform chapel program emphasized unity and introduced small group Bible studies on Wednesdays.
These Transform small groups took a deep dive into the fall semester’s theme scripture, Philippians 2, which urges Christians to be unified by taking on the attitude of Christ together. Emily, a graduate student, shares, “It’s helped God’s word be more present in my day-to-day life.” Since they are all studying the same passage, she can discuss it with her fellow students as they face challenges and grow together.
Plus, “just seeing my small group members on campus will sometimes remind me of an insight they shared or a question they raised,” Emily adds, “pointing me back to God’s word as I walk to the dining hall or back from class.”
Emily especially appreciates that DIU’s small groups include students, staff, and faculty. “I now know people in the finance office, on faculty, and in the apartments,” Emily explains, “people who I would not have been able to connect with otherwise.” This means she now has a wider circle of prayer support, a more diverse set of life experiences to learn from, and more friends to encourage.
We thank our friends and partners of the school for their investments that make spiritual initiatives like this possible, and we invite potential students to learn more about our spiritual life on campus.
