DIU is pleased to announce Dr. João Paulo Thomaz de Aquino as the newest member of the editorial board of the Journal of Language, Culture, and Religion. Dr. João Paulo Thomaz de Aquino is Professor of New Testament at Andrew Jumper Graduate Center in São Paulo, Brazil, where he has taught for 13 years. He is also Professor of New Testament at JMC Presbyterian Theological Seminary in São Paulo, Brazil.
Joao has published three books: União com Cristo [Union with Christ] (Monergismo, 2022); Entenda a Bíblia [Understand the Bible] (Cultura Cristã 2022), and Pregue para a Glória de Deus [Preach for God’s Glory] (Peregrino 2019). Joao is also the author of scholarly articles, academic essays and book reviews.
Dr. Aquino is a Brazilian and a graduate of Andrew Jumper Graduate Center (MDiv), Calvin Theological Seminary (ThM), Andrew Jumper Graduate Center (DMin), and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (PhD). His current research interests are primarily Luke-Acts, Union with Christ, the office of Deacon, and the three offices of Christ.
Dr. Aquino is a Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil and since 2020 has been the senior pastor of JMC Presbyterian Church. Joao and his wife, Juliana, have been married for more than 20 years and they have three children.
