Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. (Psalm 128:1-2)
I want to say a huge “thank you” to all the volunteers, table hosts, reception, and food prep personnel at the Festival last Friday evening. What an incredible time of presenting the University to friends, present and future, about all that DIU is about and the ForTheWorld campaign in support of the DIU mission.
The program included ethnic Afghan food from Fresh Kabab in Arlington, which was wonderful, and served in the Event Center to about 100 guests and staff. Attendees were able to wear traditional dress from around the world and with the Event Center so exquisitely decorated, the evening’s environment was beautiful. After our meal, IziBongo performed leading us in worship songs from around the world featuring the beauty and expertise from cultural contexts all around the world.
The Friends of DIU Annual Festival is a recurring friendraiser for the University that will happen each Spring-the purpose is to celebrate God’s provision from the previous year and prayerfully look ahead to the future. Our guests blessed us with generous gifts for the Innovation phase of ForTheWorld in addition to new relationships with partnering opportunities.
The human capacity to pull off such a major event is enormous; that coupled with a freeway accident that caused our food to be delayed, had us in a prayerful posture as we began welcoming our guests. We are so grateful to all of you who went way beyond the call of duty to fill in the gaps to make our time together truly festive and inspirational. Thanks to all of you for your incredible teamwork!
Paz,
Scott
