9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:9)
Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season, or 40 days until Easter. Lent is a tradition that helps us focus on our need for a Savior as we think about and experience our own mortality. During Lent, Christians typically abstain from enjoying certain things, like meat or sweets, in order to draw closer to God. Others commit to adding something like Scripture memory or new charitable acts. I encourage all of us to ask God what He has in mind for us to learn, and to spend time really listening to His Spirit through prayer and worship.
As we near the end of February, a number of important dates are coming up. Don’t miss the Student Body Association’s Winter Ball this Saturday (6pm, Event Center) where we all will get to don our formal finest for a fun evening together eating tacos and dancing. It’s not too early to start planning your photo shoot among the Texas bluebonnets in one of our many vista points in the area. They’ll be in full bloom before we know it! Our Spring Break will begin on March 10th, which is a great opportunity for students to take a breather and enjoy some days away from the books and projects. There are a lot of exciting things to look forward to in the coming weeks. Enjoy!

Scott
