Several leading seminaries partner with Dallas International University to offer their students specialized degrees. Students interested in these programs should apply for Graduate Admission at DIU as well completing admissions requirements for their seminary. If previously enrolled at DIU, you will need to change your admission status to “graduate”.

Students should consult their academic advisors at their seminary and DIU before enrolling in classes for this program.

Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) in Dallas, TX, offers a Master of Arts in Bible Translation (MABT) and a Master of Theology (ThM) with an emphasis in Bible Translation. With both degrees students can choose between a concentration in Applied Linguistics or Translation Advising. Both degree options and concentrations include 18 graduate credit hours at DIU. Students wishing to take DIU courses as part of a master’s degree from DTS should register for them through DIU.

Many students choose to take extra classes at DIU to complete a second master’s degree. MABT students working on the Applied Linguistics concentration can take 4 more graduate credit hours at DIU (22 hours total) and pass DIU’s comprehensive exam to earn an MA in Applied Linguistics in Bible Translation from DIU. MABT students working on the Translation Advising concentration can take 9 more graduate hours at DIU (27 hours total) and complete a capstone project to earn an MA in Translation Advising from DIU.

A dual degree program is available through Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) in Louisville, KY, and Dallas International University. Students will earn a Master of Arts with major in Applied Linguistics (Bible Translation concentration) from DIU and a Master of Divinity in Missions and Bible Translation from SBTS.  Students will complete 95 graduate hours. This does not include any undergraduate or remedial prerequisites that may be required.

The DIU academic advisor for students enrolled in the SBTS/DIU dual-degree program is Dr. Michael Boutin.

New Saint Andrews College (NSA) and DIU have a cooperative agreement where DIU will accept nine hours of preapproved courses in Hebrew for DIU required graduate semester credit, and up to six additional hours of NSA Hebrew courses for DIU elective credit. NSA students may transfer from DIU to NSA, 21 undergraduate semester hours and 14 graduate semester hours. Contact the Academic Affairs Office at DIU for more information.

Prerequisites

The DIU portion of the MABT Applied Linguistics concentration requires four undergraduate prerequisites. If students have not taken them elsewhere, they may complete these at DIU.
