22nd COMMENCEMENT CELEBRATION
Last year, Dallas International University hosted a Commencement celebration unlike any other. Due to the pandemic, we marked this rite of passage virtually with graduates, their families, and friends joining from around the world. On April 29, 2021, we had yet another unique celebration as we commemorated our graduates’ success synchronously. Our president, Dr. Doug Tiffin delivered a message of encouragement, in person, to graduates, and student representative Susanna Berg shared remotely about how God’s heart language is best expressed to others through His people.
In this new format, we once again bore witness to the faithfulness of God and His work among the nations as twenty-five students crossed the stage for their diplomas, ready to begin their next steps in cross-cultural service.
Our graduating class of Spring 2021 included four graduates with B.A. degrees in International Service, two M.A. degrees in Language and Culture Studies, one M.A. degree in Abrahamic Studies, fifteen M.A. degrees in Applied Linguistics, and three M.A. degrees in World Arts.
In addition, we had the privilege of conferring an honorary doctoral degree on our commencement speaker, Mr. William W. Caruth III, in honor of his faithful service to the Lord and Dallas International University since we began in 1999. Following the ceremony, students and guests gathered outdoors to celebrate together.
While for many, the next steps are uncertain due to our changing world, we know that God remains faithful to His promise that the ends of the earth will sing His praises. We are so proud of this class of 2021, and we ask your prayers for them as God guides them and opens doors for their participation in His work. Thank you for being such a big part of that through the seeds you sow in your giving, encouragement, and prayers.
SEEDS OF CHANGE
Everyone who earned a diploma in our recent Commencement ceremony represents a life surrendered to Christ and the work of the gospel around the world. Each one was taught by professors who have also given of their lives in the same pursuit. Dallas International University exists to prepare well-educated students to cross language and culture boundaries and be a launching pad from which these students will go to impact communities worldwide.
We’re sowing seeds into students’ hearts through our unique educational programs, encouraging spiritual growth through Christ-centered teaching, and fostering relationships among colleagues and mentors that will last a lifetime. As a result, our graduates sow seeds into the hearts of people in over eighty countries, and we are seeing lives, families, and entire communities begin to change because of those seeds.
Friends, we can’t do this alone. We continue to rely upon the Lord’s provision through His people so that we can continue sowing into students who, in turn, sow into communities. We continue to see how God uses all of us to accomplish His work as we are faithful to Him. Will you prayerfully consider sowing a seed of change into the work of Dallas International University and our mission to educate students for Great Commission work?
