Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Cameroon, Pius W Akumbu, will give a lecture on Babanki Literacy Classes and Community-Based Language Research.

Dr. Pius W. Akumbu teaches in the Department of Linguistics, University of Buea and is currently a visiting research scholar at the Department of Linguistics, University of California, Berkeley.
His research focuses on the phonological systems of Cameroonian languages and on language documentation and descriptions. He is also interested in language policy and planning in Cameroon.
While in Berkeley, Dr. Akumbu is working on the grammar of Central Ring Grassfields Bantu languages of Cameroon. He will present a paper on the above topic during the linguistics Society of America annual meeting on 10 January 2016.
